About this place

Rouen Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and the seat of the Archbishop of Rouen. It is located in the historic part of Rouen on the right bank of the Siene River. The cathedral dates back to the 4th century and during the following centuries the cathedral was gradually extended.

Today the cathedral has the characteristics of Gothic and Renaissance style. The most famous paintings of the cathedral are the series of paintings by the impressionist painter Claude Monet. This series represents scenes at different time of the day. The paintings are estimated to over $40 million and the originals are held in different museums.

The facade of the cathedral has two towers, stained glass windows and impressive sculptures with numerous details that will amaze everyone.
