About Me

Hi friends, thanks for reading my profile!

My name is Lydia. As a local person, living in Chengdu since childhood, I know her very well. I love to meet people from anywhere and make friends with them, and still keep in touch with each other once in a while. My hobbies are reading, sporting and traveling around, which calm my mind. As a proverb goes, you can either travel or read, but either your body or soul must be on its way.

When talking about the old town of Chengdu, we always associate it with the traditional and ancient, as it has a long history of more than 3200 years. Its most splendid period was the Three Kingdom’s period, which related to another old saying, three cobblers with their wits combined equal Chukeh Liang the master mind. What’s more, Chengdu is the cradle of Chinese tea culture and paint technology. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System (built in BC 256) is much older than the Great Wall (built in BC 9 or 8),and it still plays an very important role in agriculture here. Besides, folk culture in the old town and beyond is colorful in its wide variety, and at the same time, Chengdu also pays heed to economic development.  With all the above saying, Chengdu is a perfect combination of historical and modern civilization.

Since ancient time, it has a nickname -- the land of abundance. People who have been here say that Chengdu is a city where you come once only and you never want to leave, I can’t agree with that more.  Its annual temperature is about 16 ℃, and its moderate climate makes citizens quite relaxed and comfortable to live here.  Plus the locals are very friendly  and hospitable to others.

Here are some itineraries I guide often:

1. Chengdu Panda Base--city explore ( Jinli Street, wide-narrow Alley, Wuhou shrine, Wenshu Monstery etc.)
2. Chengdu--Leshan Giant Buddha--Mt. Emei--Yibin Bamboo Forest
3. Chengdu--Ya'an Bifengxia Panda Base—Shangli ancient town—Dengchigou catholic church in Baoxing county(where found the first panda in the world )
4. Chengdu-Jiuzhaigou national park –Huanglong park (the world’s natural heritage sites)
5. Chengdu—Luodai ancient town--Huanglong ancient town and stream
6. Chengdu-- Dujiangyan Irrigation System— Mt. Qing Cheng

As a local person, I grow with my city, I love my hometown and now I want to introduce it to people the real and less touristic sides, I want to help people plan their trips well with friend's attitude and have a fantastic experience here. Thank you very much and looke forward to seeing you soon.

Lydia is amazing. Energetic, knowledgeable about so much, not just Chengdu but history, cultures of other peoples and of curse about China and Chengdu. She took us to the Panda base where she seemed to know everything, to a "surprise" which I highly recommend, an amazing Tau temple and the narrow street . Most importantly, like so many Chinese I met, she was hospitable, happy and fair....read more
