I had a business meeting near Shanghai and decided to arrive two days earlier to explore this amazing city. It was my first visit to Shanghai. As an experienced traveler, I normally manage myself almost anywhere as long as people around understand English but knowing the language and cultural barrier in China and due to my limited time, I decided to hire a travel guide. I sent a request to several travel guides, got several answers and finally decided to continue with Alice….and I am very, very happy on that decision!!! Before my arrival, she answered my numerous emails promptly, planned a realistic schedule based on my requests on what I wanted to see or do. On my early morning arrival to Shanghai, there was a Didi driver waiting for me at the airport. Meeting with Alice at the hotel lobby, the last check of the tour plan and then 2,5 very memorable days exploring this megacity. Of course, one could do that also by him/herself, but SH is a huge city and then there is the language barrier – not many people can speak English here - i.e. planning the route from point A to point B is not as easy as in many other cities in the world. It was so much more relaxing when I just followed Alice and at the same time had interesting discussions about SH, China and many other things. Alice is well educated, positive, energetic and intelligent young woman, speaking very good English. It was pure joy to walk and talk with her and learn lot of inside things about Shanghai and Chinese culture. I also bought a tailor-made suit on this trip. I told Alice about this wish before my trip and asked her to find a reliable tailor and organize everything. And she did it, exceeding all my expectations. From the first visit to the tailor to the delivery of the clothes to my hotel one week later (after my business meetings), she acted like a professional private assistant. I was in China for the 1st time to explore to expos in shanghai. Lucky for me i found Alice on this website to be my interpreter with the perspective suppliers. Through the 4 days we were together she was always punctual and helpful whatever i needed in and out of the expo. She was a great happy joyful personality to be with especially as these expos can be tiring. It was my first time in China and with a lot of scepticism I landed Shanghai. I have been contacting Alice before coming here.I landed on Pudong Airport and with no understanding of Mandarin, I was little confused. I contacted Alice and she started sending me all what I need to do and show it to the cabbie by typing in Mandarin. Amazing. This was just the start. She constantly ringed and called to find whether I am safe and OK and whether I have reached the destination. Next day Alice accompanied me for touring Shanghai. She was very very punctual and friendly. She speaks wonderful English as well. She made me experience all I need to do as an Shanghainese. She guided me for all the important tourist spots, food and even shopping. She bargained for me so that I can get the best and yet not a pinch for my pocket. She took me to an authentic Chinese restaurant and the experience was amazing. I had an accident before coming here at Shanghai so I couldn't walk fast.But she always made me comfortable by adjusting her speed, allowing for intermittent rest and ensured I get a seat in the metro so that my leg doesn't pain. I needed a translator at very late notice in Shanghai and also need on Sunday which is a non working day, Alice showed great commitment to help and arrived early for me to educate her on my products before my meeting with a Chinese buyer. Knowing it would be challenging to visit China, I contacted Alice and she immediately responded. We emailed back and forth a few times about my expectations and needs as my trip was a combination of business and pleasure. Alice is a delightful young lady who is professional, responsive and knowledgeable. She greeted us at the hotel after a long flight, took us for traditional Chinese dinner. Her English is excellent, she knows her way around Shanghai and was extremely helpful.
