Cycling Heaven - a biking tour of the Ethnic Village
Tour Description
7km away from our guest house is one of the Naxi minority villages. It is a quiet life there, very rural with only one bus every 3 hours connecting it to the city.
Today we will bike our way over the winding country roads, some of which are quite rustic - so sit firm in your seat and grab those handlebars! On our way we might well see the local farmers tending to their crops, and green fields with grazing cows and horses. It's almost picture perfect - the Switzerland of China!
As we enter the village we can see how simple but happy life is here. The villagers chat with each other while the local children play. Say hi if you will to them, the little ones will get shy but still peep at us with curiosity - as you gaze back at them and their village you see no greed, no ambitions and no mad rush to make money - such pure and unspoiled places are so hard to imagine in a china that is rushing ahead all the time.
It's a baptism for the soul and a balm for frayed city nerves - and a reminder that life can be simple yet peaceful, and that less can sometimes be so much more.
