In the morning after breakfast at 08:30 AM, chauffeur will pick you up from hotel and drop at Gateway of India, Mumbai.

Adorned with four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone, Gateway of India is the most famous monument of Mumbai and a huge tourist draw. The whole structure displays a combination of Hindu as well as Muslim architectural styles. Its arch is constructed in Muslim style while the carvings, engravings and other decorations are in Hindu style. Opposite the Gateway stands the Royal Taj Mahal Hotel, a treasure-trove of invaluable memories of Mumbai and Taj Towers, a monument with appealing architectural design.

From Gateway of India, you will board ferry boat to reach to Elephanta Island . A ferry boat is a kind of luxury boat, which takes visitors around the harbor and the journey takes nearly one hour fifteen minutes to reach the island.

Elephanta Island & Elephanta Caves:

As you reach the island, you can either walk on foot or take the toy train, which commutes visitors to main attraction.
Elephanta Island is a quiet and picturesque land imbibed with serenity and tranquility. The place is quite verdant with lush green trees and monkeys scooting all around the place. Be wary of bringing any food, lest you want troubles from monkeys.
After getting off the train, you will need to walk so nearly 120 steep steps as to reach the entrance of temple. There are also offered pony services, if you want to save on the toil of climbing upstairs.

Covering an area of about 60,000 square feet, the entire Elephanta cave complex houses elaborate rock cut temples that date back to 5th century. These temples are specifically dedicated to Lord Shiva and contain carefully chiseled out corridors and chambers to walk through. As you walk past each bend, you will come across dense sculptural contents. There you will see images engraved out of rock surfaces, artistic pillars, intricate stone work and chiseled sculptures wedged out of the rocks. Also view the hugely constructed Shivlingam located on temple's western end.

In east of the main temple, lays a wide courtyard, which stores secondary shrine. As you proceed to main hall, you will see the entire hall adorns sculpted panels, which depict legends from Shiv Purana. Throughout the complex, there are various sculpted images of Shiva in his various manifestations like Kalyanasundara, Gangadhara, Ardhanariswara, Uma Maheswara, Nataraja, Andhakaasuravadamoorthy, Yogiswara and Ravanaanugrahamurthy. These beautifully and skilfully carved figures display high level of excellence in art and craft of ancient India. The entire complex speaks volumes about grace, balance, sense of beauty & peace and solitude, and hence provides the visitors soul enlightening experience. Here you will also visit the handicraft markets loaded with specimens of excellent art and craft of India.

After completing your Elephant tour, you will travel in ferry boat back to Gateway of India pier at 1330
On approaching the harbor, chauffeur will drive you to hotel.
