Chengdu Hiking Tours
Chengdu is located at the Sichuan Basin and with its many mountainous places to explore to its west. While exploring the city with leisure you may consider to take it further to explore more of Chengdu by foot. I provide hikings to Mt Emei, hikings to Mt. Qingcheng and Mt. Qingcheng Houshan, hikings to Mt Zhaogong and Mt. Heming, etc.
Chengdu is located by the bottom of the Sichuan Basin where it is usually humid all year round. All seasons are good to do hikings around Chengdu yet you want to avoid winter if possible. The reasons that winter is of a less comfortable season to do hikings include:
1. The forests and mountains are usually with a dark color and not as fresh as in other seasons.
2.the usual gloomy weather is common in winter from November to the next February.
3.if you are doing the higher mountain hikings, it can be really cold in the mountains.
Although to avoid winter is not always correct as at places like Mt. Emei and Mt. Zhaogong, Hongyan Ridge, etc, they have much higher chance of seeing good views in the winter time other than other seasons. Remember that in Chengdu, as long as you go high over 2000 meters or 3000 meters, the weather is fine in winter, by then you will understand that the poor people in Chengdu are just covered in the thick fog that clogs low.
While looking at the time to spend on the hikings, you need to find out where these hikings are and how much time it requires to get there. The hiking places are basically located at the west, northwest and southwest of Chengdu. Places like Qingcheng and Emei there are easy public transfers to get to such as fast train and scheduled buses while the wilder places such as Mt. Jiufeng, Mt. Zhaogong, Hongyan Ridge there are no public transfers available hence you are recommended to hire a car.
