The Jomsom and Muktinath Tour is a part of the Annapurna circuit and perhaps the single most popular trek in Nepal. The diverse landscapes and cultures to be found along this short tour route give a marvelous insight into the rural life of Nepalese people. The main feature of this tour is walking through the gorge carved by the Kali Gandaki River, which carries water from the Tibetan plateau to eventually join the Ganges in India. The starting and ending point is Pokhara. Focus of this tour is the Muktinath and along with this tour we provide you short trekking around and down to Tatopani as well. Muktinath is the pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhist. To the Hindu, Muktinath is a sacred as the place of salvation. They believe that to wash in the water here guarantees salvation after death. To the Buddhist it is the place that the great sage Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) meditated at, and to all, it is the source of fossilized ammonites, known locally as shaligrams that are found all along the upper reaches of the Kali Gandaki River valley.
This trek is recommended year round as most of this trek is always in the rain shadow. Our Tour will start by flying from Kathmandu break at Pokhara then to Jomsom from Pokhara. In the same tour we have one day Kathmandu valley sightseeing, one day Pokhara Valley sightseeing and Muktinath pilgrimage tour plus short trekking down to Tatopani and back to Jomsom (optional and customizable)
Day 01 - Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1350 meters).
Day 02 - Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.
Day 03 - Fly to Pokhara (900 meters) 35 minutes and then fly then to Jomsom (2713meters.) 30 minutes.
Day 04 - Trek to Muktinath (3802 meters) 5 hours.
Day 05 - Trek back to Jomsom (2713 meters) 5 hours.
Day 06 - Morning flight to Pokhara.
Day 07 - Fly back to Kathmandu (1345 meters). Overnight back at the hotel in Kathmandu by private vehicle from Kathmandu domestic airport to the Hotel.
Day 08 - Leisure day at Kathmandu.
Day 09 - Transfer to international airport for your final departure.
