Day 1 Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha
You will be greeted at Kilimanjaro Airport by our transfer driver and be taken to the Green Mountain Hotel in Usa River, close to Arusha. The rest of the day is for you to do as you please. You can opt to spend the day relaxing by the hotel pool or explore the town of Arusha (short taxi drive away). In the late afternoon you will be briefed by our team on what to expect on your upcoming trek. The night will be spent at the Green Hills of Africa.

Day 2 Arusha – Marangu gate (1,860 m) – Mandara Hut (2,700 m)
After breakfast you will be taken to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate at 1,840 m. Upon completion of the necessary paper work, your trek commences and soon you will be hiking through the dense rainforest of Marangu. Looking up, you might have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the thumbless black and white colobus monkeys. After you have reached the Mandara Hut (2,700 m) in approximately 4 hours and you have had some time to catch your breath, you will have the option to join a walk to the Maundi Crater where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Kenyan interior, as well as of the gleaming lakes which share the border between Kenya and Tanzania. You will stay the evening at Mandara Hut.

Day 3 Mandara Hut (2,700 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)
An early breakfast strengthens you for the trek ahead and shortly after leaving Mandara Hut you will reach the cross roads between Horombo Hut and Maundi Crater. Heading in the direction of Horombu Hut the vegetation will change to shrubs and you will cross the open moor land reaching your destination in approximately 4 – 6 hours. Looking back your path will already be shrouded in clouds and looking forward you will catch glimpses of Mawenzi, Kibo peak and the Masai steppe. After your evening meal you will drift off to sleep at the Horombu Hut.

Day 4 Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Zebra Rocks (3,980 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)
Zebra Rocks is on the agenda today, in order for your body to acclimatise to the altitude. Acclimatisation plays an important role in improving your chances to reach the summit and this 2 to 4 hour trek offers you the opportunity to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh air. Zebra Rocks (3,980 m) is named after the distinct black and white stripes covering the rock formation. A hot lunch will await you on your return and the rest of the afternoon is for you to enjoy the spectacular views around you and regain your strength for tomorrow’s hike. You will stay another night at Horombu Hut.

Day 5 Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)
After breakfast a long and tough journey to Kibo Hut awaits you. The vegetation slowly changes into alpine desert and you will pass the “last waterpoint” on your way to the so-called “saddle”, a plateau situated between the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo. You will arrive at the Kibo Hut in about 5 to 6 hours and go to bed straight after dinner as the summit calls for an early start, at approximately 23:00 h.

Day 6 Kibo Hut (4,700 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)
The summit day has finally arrived and at around midnight, when the lava ash is still frozen, you will start your ascent. Your path will be strenuous with only your headlight to light the way. You will pass the Hans Meyer Cave at 5,200 m and slowly make your way up. Gilman’s Point at 5,715 m will be reached as the sun rises over the crater rim. You will continue another 1 to 2 hours to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). The cold is soon forgotten as you stand on the “Roof of Africa”, basking in the rays of the morning light. After well-deserved photo opportunity you will descend along the same path. The lava ash will now have thawed, allowing for a faster descent. Upon your arrival at Kibo Hut, a warm meal and approximate 2 hours rest awaits you, before you continue down to the Horombu Hut, where you will stay the night.

Day 7 Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Arusha
The surrounding vegetation becomes greener as you continue your descent and soon you will arrive at the Mandara Hut (2,700 m), where a hot lunch awaits you. The journey back to the park gate gives you another chance to observe the beautiful tropical rainforest and spot anything you have missed on the way up, like the Impatiens Kilimanjari Flower, which is endemic to the rainforest on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. Arriving at the gate you will say goodbye to your mountain crew and be taken back to the Green Hills of Africa. At the hotel you can enjoy a shower and celebrate your success in reaching the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at the Green Mountain hotel.

Day 8 Arusha – Kilimanjaro Airport

Day 1 Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be greeted by our transfer driver and taken to Usa River on the outskirts of Arusha, where you will be dropped off at the Green Mountain Hotel. The day can be spent relaxing at the hotel pool or trying out the local restaurants in Arusha (taxi ride necessary). You will have your briefing in preparation for your upcoming trek in the afternoon, followed by dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2 Arusha – Machame Gate (1,790 m) – Machame Camp (3,010 m)
After breakfast you will be taken to the entrance gate of Kilimanjaro National Park. While your guide takes care of the registration forms, you can take the time to take in the surrounding area, read the information boards and watch the mountain crew prepare for the climb. Embarking on your trekking adventure, you will soon be immersed in the cool rainforest with lush green mosh and lichen carpeting the ground and tall trees and ferns sheltering you from the sun. In the branches you might spot the black and white colobus monkeys watching you curiously as you walk past. In about 5 to 6 hours, you will reach the Machame Camp, situated 3,010 m above the tree line, where you will enjoy your evening meal and overnight stay in tents.

Day 3 Machame Camp (3,010 m) – New Shira Camp (3,845 m)
You will continue with your ascent, leaving the rainforest behind and entering the moor and heathland. On your way to New Shira Camp (3,845 m), you will enjoy spectacular views of the mountain range. In the mid-afternoon you will finally reach your destination where you can enjoy a view of the sun glistening against the rock face and glacier of Kibo. Overnight at New Shira Camp.

Day 4 New Shira Camp (3,845 m) – Lava Tower (4,640 m) – Barranco Camp (3,960 m)
A 700 m climb is on the agenda for today, with your final destination only slightly higher than the night before. This will allow your body to become accustomed to the altitude changes, as a height of over 4,500 m will be reached over the following days. Your trek begins with an ascent above the Shira Plateau in the direction of the Lava Tower (4,640 m). The surrounding vegetation becomes more sporadic as the landscape changes to an alpine desert. The route stretches through the sweeping Barranco Valley, with its lobelia and giant senecio plants, and in approximately 6 to 7 hours, you will arrive at the Barranco Camp, the most beautiful camp on the mountain.

Day 5 Barranco Camp (3,960 m) – Barafu Camp (4,640 m)
Today you will climb the “Barranco Wall”, where a steady hold will be needed. Luckily a helping hand is never far behind and your guides will assist you wherever necessary. You will make your way across the ridge, whilst enjoying wonderful views of the Kibo’s south glacier. In the Karanga Valley you will stop for lunch, before embarking on another 2 to 3 hours climb to Barafu Camp (4,640 m). At the camp you will enjoy a well-deserved break, evening meal and an early night.

Day 6 Barafu Camp (4,640 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Mweka Camp (3,080 m)
At around midnight, you will be awoken with a hot tea and light snack before you start your climb to Uhuru Peak. Ascending in the dark, with only a headlight to shine the way, you will climb the screes of Kibo, reaching Stella Point in about 5 to 7 hours. Walking along the crater ridge you will finally reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) high above the clouds. On the “Roof of Africa” you will enjoy a 360° view over the surrounding landscape before starting your descent along the same route. Just before midday you will arrive at Barufu Camp, where you will have a warm meal and relax before continuing another 1 to 2 hours to Mweka Camp (3,080 m). Here you will have your evening meal and sleep with the sights of Mount Kilimanjaro still fresh in your mind.

Day 7 Mweka Camp (3,080 m) – Mweka Gate (1,630 m) – Arusha
The last day of your journey has arrived and after breakfast, accompanied by a traditional farewell ceremony, you will gently descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Your driver will be waiting for you to take you back to the Green Mountain Lodge, where you can relax at the pool and celebrate your achievement.

Day 1: Nairobi – Slopes of Mt. Kenya
Transfer to Mount Kenya, later start of the trek from Sirimon Park Gate. We shall leave Nairobi by 6am the latest and head to Nanyuki, a town at the base of Mt Kenya by 10am.We shall have an early lunch and by 11.30am we depart for the Sirimon Park Gate. Our Mountain trek starts at this point after a few formalities at the Gate with an easy trek in the afternoon to help with acclimatization.
Overnight will be at Old Mosses (3300m) in the high altitude mountain cabins. By the end of the day we shall have done 5 hours of trekking.
In the morning after breakfast continue with Mount Kenya trek. We shall start the day at 0800hrs.
By the end of this day we shall have done 8 hours of walking. This will be a true test of patience, endurance and determination. Ascend the Sirimon Track to Likie North Valley. In this beautiful valley below are the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo , two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks (3990m). Climb out of the North Valley and into Mackinders Valley, one of the broadest valleys in the Mountain with many giant groundsels. Camp at Shiptons Cabins of the Mackinders valley below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion (4,300m).
Acclimatisation day. We shall spend this day acclimatizing at the base of the peaks, where we shall climb to the View Point of Oblang and Nanyuki tarn. Time permitting we shall descend a little bit further to have a glimpse of the Mountain on the other side (but from this side we shall have a excellent view of Batian, Nelion and not forgetting the Diamond collier as well as the “Amphitheatre
Trek starts in the middle of the night. It is the day when you reach the mt. Kenya Peak in sunrise hours.
The day starts at 0200hrs. We have to start very early on this day so that we reach the peak at sunrise. It is an Alpine ascent to the highest peak, Point Lenana (4985m) en-route up the North face little used by tourists. It is 4 hours of stiff walking to the summit. This will be the most challenging bit of the Mountain Trek and will require a strong mind to reach the summit. At about 0730hrs, we shall start the descent back to the Mintos Hut where we shall have breakfast. We shall camp in the tents within this region for the night.
During descend, if group pace allows, also visit to Nithii waterfalls.
We shall leave for the Mt Kenya Meru Bandas and having a stop over for lunch at the Road Head. Time permitting we shall deviate a bit to the “Nithii waterfalls”. We shall later join the main route and head to the Mt Kenya Meru Bandas where we shall be accommodated for the night.
Today you trek the last part of the Mount Kenya Trek.
After breakfast we shall leave the Mt Kenya Bandas at 0900hrs. We shall trek the first 10kms out of the dense forests and the rest of 22 kms you shall cover on a basic 4x4 Land Rover out of the ParK, and this ride is a bit bumpy. On reaching Chogoria town we shall have lunch and then be transferred back to your Nairobi Hotel or Airport.

7 Days Kilimanjaro Climb Machame Route
Day 1 : MACHAME GATE TO MACHAME HUT 9KM 6/7HRS
After breakfast in Arusha you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro National Park gate where you will embark on your climb of Kilimanjaro. Provided with pack lunch then through the cultivation zone and the forest to Machame hut. Here you will spend the evening at the Machame hut for B.L.D.
Day 1 : MACHAME GATE TO MACHAME HUT 9KM 6/7HRS
After breakfast in Arusha you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro National Park gate where you will embark on your climb of Kilimanjaro. Provided with pack lunch then through the cultivation zone and the forest to Machame hut. Here you will spend the evening at the Machame hut for B.L.D.
DAY 2: MACHAME HUT TO SHIRA HUT 7KM 5/6HRS.
After morning breakfast Leave Machame hut in the morning, path leads up through steep rocky ridges to Shira hut above sea level is reached in the late afternoon. You will have superb views of the shira plateau and the land below Mt. Meru another extinct volcano is seen on the south western direction. Overnight shira hut B.L.D.
DAY 3: SHIRA HUT TO BARRANCO HUT 10KM 6/7HRS.
After morning breakfast From the Shira Plateau, you will continue east passing the junction heading toward the peak of Kibo. Along the way you will pass “sharks tooth” which will bring you up to the arrow glacier. You now continue down-hill to Barranco hut, where you will spend the evening at an altitude of 3,860m for B.L.D.
DAY 4: BARRANCO HUT (ACCLIMATIZATION)
After breakfast, this day is spent to acclimatize to the altitude. With B.L.D at Barranco hut.
DAY 5: BARRANCO HUT TO BARAFU HUT 8KM, 7/8 HRS.
After breakfast Leave from Barranco hut and cross the floor of the great Barranco valley and up to the Barranco wall; continue the trek on the south circuit path passing through the Karanga Valley (last water point – Karanga River). Your path joints the Mweka route and up the abroad ridge to Barafu hut you have excellent Views of the top section of the kibo dome, the Mawenzi peak and plains below Overnight Barafu hut B.L.D.
DAY 6: BARAFU HUT TO STELLA POINT TO UHURU 11HRS BACK TO MWEKA HUT 5KM 4/7 HRS.
Between midnight and one (1am) start the trek to conquer the highest point in Africa. This section of the route s very steep and is considered the steepest on the non-technical path on this mountain. You will encounter at least five (5) grueling hours to reach the crater rim at Stella point. The fascinating colors changing sunrise is the right reward at Uhuru peak. The descent is past Stella point and barafu hut to mweka hut B.L.D.
DAY 7: MWEKA HUT TO MWEKA GATE 10KM 3/4HRS.
After morning breakfast then the day is spent for a leisurely descent through the forest on a narrow path to the gate where we arrive, exhausted but exhilarated, to meet our drivers and transfer to Arusha…to catch the shuttle to Nairobi.
