About this place

1912 is the main bar district in Nanjing. In a nutshell, it’s where the trendy, young crowds go.

1912 opened up in 2004 and has become consistently busier ever since. Many bars and clubs dot 1912 including one of the "Scarlet" bars, Red Club, and Blue Marlin Restaurant. In general prices are comparable to other bars in Nanjing.

The 1912 District is naturally busier on weekends, and can get packed with crowds at Christmas time and other holidays.

Location: 1912 stretches along Taiping Bei Lu (太平北路) between Changjiang Lu (长江路) and Changjiang Hou Jie (长江后街). It is within walking distance of Xinjiekou and it is easy to catch a cab to or from 1912 as all taxi drivers should be familiar with the popular nighspot.

Why is it called 1912?

1912 adopts its name from the year Dr. Sun Yat Sen overthrew the Qing Dynasty and created the Republic of China with Nanjing as the capital. The 1912 area is now located next to the old headquarters of the Chinese Nationalist Party.

This is a much overdue review! I visited along with 2 other female friends in March and we had the most incredible experience!! Hakim came highly recommended to us by Peace Corp volunteers in the area. My friend booked with Hakim and as soon as we arrived to Merzouga Hakim kindly greeted us and drove us to the hotel. The main hotel is beautiful! Although we didn’t sleep there we enjoyed delicious Moroccan mint team, amazing conversations and an incredible breakfast after our night in the desert. My two friends and I got on our camels and were guided by Hakim and one of his staff. We had a great time on the trek and Hakim went out of his way to take pictures of us on the camels to make sure we captured the incredible experience! Once at the camp site Hakim showed us where we would be sleeping - it was the most beautiful camp site I have ever seen. We enjoyed a delicious feast, listened to live music under the stars, danced the night away and shared incredible stories. Hakim really went out of his way to ensure we were enjoying our trip and felt safe and comfortable!! I HIGHLY recommend you book with Hakim if you’re considering doing a trek - you won’t regret it!

Our group of 38 people took a trip to the 3 places from November 24 to December 1 2014 by engaging Ms Tina Wang as our tour guide. We went to Jade Dragon Mountain, Black Dragon Pond, Tiger Leaping Gorge and Lijiang Old Quarter. The scenery is spectacular though the walking and climbing stairs took a heavy toll for us city folks. We enjoyed the exercise and fantastic scenery  very much. I find the loud music in Lijiang Old Quarter really spoilt the environment and ambience of the old city and many of us in the group do not like it. We wish the old city could retain the original ambience minus all the loud disco music. The entrance fees are high about 80% of the cash we brought along were used to buy entries to the attractions. I think the Chinese Government need to consider this if we compared a dollar to a dollar this is even higher than many developed countries. In addition there are so many extras needed to be added on, it is quite a nuisance to keep up with all the different tickets. The shopping in Kunming is very interesting and the Street Food recommended by our guide, Tina is delicious. We like the rou za mou which is very tasty. The traffic is terrible with the electric motor bikes coming in all directions, I really wonder how many accidents occur every day. Tina has been most helpful for the trip and she is trustworthy. We have no hesitation  to recommend her to anyone who need a knowledgeable , reliable and honest guide.
