The Huaqiangbei commercial area is a great place to go shopping for electronic consumer items and to take a look at the 72-story SEG Plaza skyscraper. The area starts from Shennan Boulevard at SEG Plaza, near HuaQiangLu Station and stretches one Kilometer North up to the Pavilion hotel. Trees line the avenues with really wide footpaths which make walking around the district more enjoyable. However this is one of the busiest shopping areas of Shenzhen and be prepared for large crowds and hawkers. Huaqiangbei is famous for having the largest electronic market in all of Asia. Actually it is made up of multiple electronic markets where what is available runs the gamut from electronic components to full computers and mobile phones. There are also a number of department stores and the locally-famous “Women’s World” and Maoye Department store which makes Hua Qiang Bei a popular destinations for couples.
