About Shanghai Old Street

Shanghai Old Street is located near the Huangpu River in Shanghai’s Huangpu District. It traverses the former Old City of Shanghai and has a combination of tourist attractions, shops, entertainment, and cultural exhibits. The architecture and the layout of shops along Shanghai Old Street trace their heritage from the Ming Dynasty to the period when European influence made an impact on the city. The eastern section retains the characteristics of the residential area in the late years of the Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Warlord Era, while the western section contains buildings built resembling Ming Dynasty architecture.
