Buzludzha monument is a must see place in Bulgaria. The monument ranks among the most famous abandoned buildings in the world. Located at the historical peak of Buzludzha in the central part of the Balkan Mountains, Bulgaria, stands a magnificent piece of architecture, the former Communist headquarters. The Buzludzha monument was built by the people and then ruined by the people. The construction started with an explosion in order to lay the foundations. The peak went down with 9 meters. But the nation had to take part not only with labour, but also financially. Stamps were printed and everyone needed to invest 1,2, 5 or 10 BGN, so in the end 14 mln BGN got collected only by the Bulgarian people. Today if the monument is to be repaired, relatively the same amount of money has to be invested.
