Kanchanjunga, with the elevation of 8,586m, is the third highest mountain in the world. Kanchanjunga trekking is considered as one of the finest trek in the world. This trek is a strong contender of “The most beautiful walk in the world.” This trekking trail goes around the areas surrounding Kanchanjunga, the second highest mountain in Nepal and third highest in the world. It was once considered to the highest mountian in the world.

The word ‘Kanchenjunga’ is derived from the Tibetan word which gives the meaning “Five Treasures of Snow”. The locals have worshipped this white giant from the time unknown and still have that respect in them. The five treasures are Gold, Silver, Precious stones, Grain and Holy Scriptures and all of these refer to five individual peaks of this Himal range.

Kanchanjunga lies on the far eastern side of Nepal near Sikkim. It was first climbed in 1955 A.D. but it was only in 1980s that this area was opened for trekking purpose. The route was only available to the mountaineers until then. This region is a restricted region and you will need a special permit to trek in this region. Solo hiking is not allowed and you will need to employ local guides to obtain permits.

Eastern region of Nepal is more prosperous in comparison to the western part. This is probably because of the favourable climate with higher rainfall and also due to the employment of Rai and Limbu in the Gorkha regiments. They bring more income, experience and ideas to the region. This trek will amaze with stunning forests, wild paths at lower altitudes , high mountain passes and trekking on glaciers in the immense space of sparsely inhabited regions. The region is mostly inhabited by Sherpa, Limbu and Rai communities. You will be able to enjoy their warm welcome and their hospitality.

Kanchenjunga Trek is an unforgettable adventure into the heart of the Himalaya where the scale of both mountain and valley is difficult to comprehend. The peaks are visible in the distance for days, floating like ships on a distant sea. Trekking does not get any better than this. When Douglas Freshfield came here in 1899 he was awe-struck by the sheer scale of it all, which left an impression of “stupendous vastness”. All around, massive yet elegant peaks thrust up into the Himalayan blue, then suddenly the immense north wall of Kanchenjunga bursts into view, with a shelf of grass spilling down the slope towards its base. This is Pangpema (5140m), one of Nepal’s most treasured sites.

Upper Mustang Trek is a journey to the cabalistic territory of Mustang which abodes the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Mustang- Lo. Mustang is a fortified city perched atop Kaligandaki River in the rain shadow of the Himalayas. Mustang receives minimal rainfall which makes the entire land arid with less vegetation. But it also means that Upper Mustang Trek is feasible for trekkers like us throughout the year including monsoon season.
The trail for Upper Mustang Trekking moves forth the barren moonscape of eroded sandstone columns and sporadic moraine landscapes. Upper Mustang Trekking has so much to offer to the prospective trekkers. Thousand years old monastery, the fortified wall, the four storey palace in Lomanthang, caves, native tribes and kaleidoscopic views of Nilgiri, Annapurna and Dhawalagiri Mountains and getting surrounded by more than 35 mountains over 6000m high are the sneak peaks of Upper Mustang Trek.
The course passes through as varied topographical structures as the world’s deepest gorge in Kali Gandaki to world’s highest regions of Lo- Manthang Valley. Upper Mustang Trek is a Restricted Area Trekking which requires a special permit from department of immigration to travel through. Permits restrict the visitor to a visit on 10-13 groups (2-14 people maximum). The valley experiences roaring wind during daytime which gets calmer throughout the night.
All in all, Upper Mustang Trek will take you through out of the world experience which will remain imprinted in your memories throughout your life.

Covering an area of 968 km2 (374 sq mi) it is the largest and most undisturbed national park in Nepal's Terai, adjoining the eastern bank of the Karnali River and bisected by the Babai River in the Bardiya District. Its northern limits are demarcated by the crest of the Siwalik Hills. The Nepalgunj-Surkhet highway partly forms the southern boundary, but seriously disrupts the protected area. Natural boundaries for human settlements are formed in the west by the Geruwa, a branch of the Karnali River, and in the southeast by the Babai River.[1]

Together with the neighboring Banke National Park, the coherent protected area of 1,437 km2 (555 sq mi) represents the Tiger Conservation Unit (TCU) Bardia-Banke that extends over 2,231 km2 (861 sq mi) of alluvial grasslands and subtropical moist deciduous forests

Mera Peak is a mountain in the Mahalangur section, Barun sub-section of the Himalaya and administratively in Nepal's Sagarmatha Zone, Sankhuwasabha. At 6,476 metres (21,247 ft) it is classified as a trekking peak. It contains three main summits: Mera North, 6,476 metres (21,247 ft); Mera Central, 6,461 metres (21,198 ft); and Mera South, 6,065 metres (19,898 ft), as well as a smaller "trekking summit", visible as a distinct summit from the south but not marked on most maps of the region.

The height of Mera is often given as 6,654 metres (21,831 ft), and claimed to be the highest trekking peak. This figure actually points to nearby Peak 41, which was mistakenly named Mera in a list of Himalayan peaks, and the figures were copied to the official trekking peak list as they were, including the wrong location coordinates

This is the first of the two scheduled "acclimatization" days. Health experts always recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest days instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. Namche Bazzar is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Our guides will take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
