About this place

Leifeng pagoda is a symbol of the west lake and was built by the wuyue king 1100 years ago. He buit it to celebrate that one of her wives finally gave birth to his first son.

But people in China know it from a famous love story.The story tells of a young scholar who falls in love with a beautiful woman, unaware that she is a white snake who has taken on human form. But good things don't last long, the snake was captured in the pagoda by a monk.The story has a great influence in peole live near west lake, people begin to take a a brike of the pagoda for good fortune. Finally, the pagoda went down. 

The pogoda you are seeing today is a morden pagoda a rebuid one in 2000. You can still find the remains of the old one inside one.
