About this place

Located at the bank of Huanhua River near Chengdu Dufu Thatched Cottage, Chengdu Shu Brocade Institute (Chengdu Shu Brocade and Embroidery Museum) was founded in 2002, on the basis of Chengdu Shu Brocade Factory of over 50-year history. Chengdu Shu Brocade Institue is the only place in Chengdu to show all the processes of Shu brocade hand-weaving handed down for over 2000 years. It sets up a large-scaled workshop inside and maintains several Shu Brocade Platform Jacquard Looms to show the handmade Shu brocade.

It is devoted to spreading Shu brocade culture, studying silk fabrics, restoring ancient patterns, designing new motifs with utility function, and producing some limited precious brocade. A great deal of fine works of Shu brocade and embroidery are displayed in over 2000 square meters.

In 2006, Shu Brocade Weaving Techniques had been listed as China Intangible Cultural Heritage for better protection with our museum’s application. We invite you sincerely to join in us to take care, to save, to protect and develop the precious heritage left by our ancestors.
