Xi'an Railway Station ( 西安站 )

Manager Review

Author:Tai Te (Last Modified: 2007-08-06 11:59:11.0)

Xi’An has a long history as a hub connecting eastern China with western China and beyond and that is still the case with the current railway station. Trains depart from Xi’An for every corner of China.

Tickets can be purchased at the station itself as well as at conveniently placed ticket booths within Xi’An. One such ticket booth is located on the east side of Bei Da Jie (北大街) just north of The Bell Tower (钟楼). There is a 5 yuan fee to purchase tickets there. Tickets for trains that arrive, depart or pass through Xi’An station can theoretically be purchased 12 days in advance. Hotels, hostels and travel agencies may charge their own fees for ticket sales but fees usually range between 5 and 20 yuan.

The current station is straining to keep up with the volume of passengers. There is a new station under construction which is expected to be opened in 2008.

How to Get There:

The station is located next to the north-east corner of the city wall at the intersection of Huancheng Bei Lu (环城北路)and Jiefang Lu (解放路). There are several bus stops nearby that accept many bus routes including numbers 205, 206, 229, 6, 39, 239, 608, 108, 251, 241, 95, 42, 41, 40, 25, 30, 13, 14, 201, 240, 500, 602, 603, 607, 610, 611, 103 and 105.
