Wuhan can be reached from anywhere in China by plane, train, bus and ferry; and from some international destinations as well. Wuhan also maintains a reliable urban transportation system. A visitor can reach any corner of the city without wasting much time. From Wuchang for instance, any bus can reach Hankou or Hanyang within 45 minutes to 1 hour. In summer, all buses running from Wuchang to other districts are air-conditioned which is excellent for sightseeing.

Transportation to Wuhan by bus is fairly convenient. New expressways have been constructed in the last few years and destinations as far away as Beijing and Shanghai can be reached on an overnight trip.
Hankou's long distance bus station can be found on Jiefang Dadao (解放大道). In Wuchang the station is on Wuluo Lu ( 武珞路), northeast of the railway station.
Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (武汉天河国际机场) is one of the biggest airports in central China. It is located 26 km northwest of Wuhan city. Transportation to and from the airport to the city is very convenient provided you know what destination you are headed for. There is a bus terminal at the airport which is very affordable for budget travelers. From the bus terminal you can reach any corner of the city. Tickets can be purchased in the arrivals hall for 15 RMB per person. In front of the arrival hall of the airport there is also a taxi stand.

Wuhan is situated along the edge of the Changjiang (Yangtze, 长江) River. Ferries are available to Shanghai, Chongqing and other riverside cities. There are 18 ferry routes in the city, of which there are three fast line routes. There is also a sightseeing tour on the Yangtze river. You can board the ferry at a two different ferry docks (Zhonghua road in Wuhang or WuhanGuan in Hankou). This means of transportation is pretty cheap, safe, and excellent for visitors who are interested in the natural landscape and a bit of fresh air.
