The East Lake scenic spot is the largest lake within a city in China. The lake covers an area of 330,000 sq meters (about 81.6 acres), which is six times the size of the West Lake (Xi Hu) in Hangzhou.
The East Lake consists of six scenic areas: Ting Tao (听涛), Mo Shan (磨山), Luo Yan (落雁 Diving Goose), Bai Ma (白马 white horses), Chuidi (吹笛), and Luo Hong Hills (珞洪). Ting Tao is famous for the memorial of a great poet named Chu Yuan (475-221 BC). It is located at the northwest side of East Lake.

Mo Shan hill lies to the southeast of East Lake with an altitude of 118 meters (387 ft) high above sea level.

78 cherry blossom trees donated by the former Japan Premier Minister Tanaka Kakueiare are growing prosperously in this area.
Visitors can enjoy many varieties of fish, water birds and plants in East Lake. The famous Wuchang fish is a unique product of East Lake. Orchids, lotus, cherry bay and plum blossoms also highlight the marvelous lake.

How to Get There:

Take bus No. 401 or tourist bus No.1.

In Hangzhou we have West Lake, in Wuhan we have East Lake, eventhough East Lake is not that famous as West Lake but it still a nice place to walk around it or boating on it, worth to go.
