East Lake (Dong Hu, 东湖) and the Changjiang (Yangtze River, 长江) are the pearls of Wuhan.

The Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan was originally built during the Three Kingdoms Period for military purposes. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times in successive dynasties. The present tower consists of a five-storey building with a height of 50.4 meters (165.4 ft). Murals, statues of great poets, poems, and paintings decorate the interior of the tower.

From late February to early March each year, the Plum Blossom Festival is held at the scenic East Lake. The plum blossom is also the city flower of Wuhan. Over 200 varieties of plum blossoms from different regions of China are exhibited.

The East Lake scenic spot is the largest lake within a city in China. The lake covers an area of 330,000 sq meters (about 81.6 acres), which is six times the size of the West Lake (Xi Hu) in Hangzhou.

Heptachord Terrace is located on the west side of Tortoise Hill. The terrace is also named Boya Terrace after a popular story about friendship that took place here during the Spring and Autumn Period (770 - 476 B.C.). A famous musician named Yu Boya was once stranded here by a sudden heavy rain. He played a song named “High Mountains and Flowing Steams” on his boat.

Guiyuan Temple is located on Cuiwei Street in Hanyang district. It is one of the four biggest Buddhist temples in Hubei Province. It boasts a unique and immense collection of Buddhist doctrine among Buddhist temples. The temple features fine architecture, excellent sculptures and rich collections of Buddhist sutras and treasures.

The Wuhan International Tourist Festival first took place in 2002, and is a much celebrated annual event held from the end of September to mid-October on the biggest avenue along the river (Yanjiang Dadao).

Hubei Provincial Museum was established in 1953 and covers an area of 2,400 sq meters (0.59 acres). The museum boasts great collections of musical instruments, bronze wares and lacquer wares.

Changchun Taoist Temple (Changchun Guan, 长春观) is the largest and most well-preserved Taoist Temple in Wuhan. The temple consists of numerous corridors and stone staircases, entirely created from brick and wood, with grand eaves and arches suspended from the ceiling.
