Fes to Marrakech
Day 1 Fez - Ifrane - Midelt – Ziz Gorges - Merzouga We will meet you at your Fez riad or hotel to make an early departure over the Middle Atlas mountains through Ifrane, we will pass through the cedar forests and stop to hand feed the monkeys. We will continue to Midelt for lunch and then via the Ziz Gorges to arrive at Merzouga. Dinner and accommodation in a desert riad or kasbah.
Day 2 Merzouga - Rissani - Erg Chebbi We will will make a circuit of the desert dunes where you will have the opportunity to see the the nomad's way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the of the desert. We will visit the ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. We will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. After lunch you can visit the traditional markets and drink coffee while watching the day to day life of the city. Late afternoon we will prepare for departure on the camel into the desert to see the sunset on top of the Erg Chebbi dunes. After a traditional tagine dinner, delicious mint tea, watching the stars and the rising moon we will spend the night in a traditional nomad tent.
Day 3 Merzouga - Todra Gorge - Dades Gorge We will rise early to see the spectacle of the sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. We'll drive through the Saghro mountains We will take a short walk through Todra Gorge before arriving at Dades Gorge for dinner and accommodation.
Day 4 Dades Gorge - Skoura - Ouarzazate After breakfast we will take a short walk in the gorge before departing for Ouarzazate and take the off road track to see the nomad caves. We will continue via El Kelaa Magona, Valley of the Roses and the Dades Valley along the road of a thousand kasbahs to arrive early evening in Ouarzazate. Dinner and accommodation at a riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 5 Ouarzazate - Marrakech We will visit the the Taourirt Kasbah and the “Hollywood of Africa’ the Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate. We will depart to Marrakech with a visit to UNESCO site of Ait Ben Haddou. We will descend the High Atlas mountains via the Tizi n Tichka pass to Marrakech. We will have time to stop and enjoy impressive views and visit the argan oil cooperative. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
It is a scenic but long drive from Fes to Merzouga.
