It`s up to what kind of boat you choose to take. Just north of the city center (Wenchang Pavillion) lies the tree and park lined Hu Cheng Canal 护城河 (also called the Qian Long Waterway). Yanfu Road runs along the waterway. Emperor Qianlong used this route to enter the city and visit Slender West Lake.
Local cuisine is one of the main reasons many Chinese travelers make the journey to Yangzhou. There are an incredible amount of restaurants throughout the city, most of which boast very reasonable prices as well. Weiyang (also known as Huaiyang) Cuisine, the Yangzhou style, is well known throughout China, as Yangzhou Fried Rice is one of the most famous local exports.

Siwang Pavillion Lu and Huaihai Lu Intersection The restaurant saturated intersection of Siwang Ting Road (四望亭路) and Huaihai Road (淮海路) is aptly named “food street.” There are at least twenty large restaurants in the area. Most establishments serve hot-pot (a spicy Sichuan special), which always makes for a fun dining experience. The restaurants are all pretty similar, so you can’t exactly choose wrong.

No. 10 Feng Le St. The Ye Chun Teahouse has been a Yangzhou staple for nearly 200 years. Not only is the teahouse set in one of the prettiest locations in town, along the tree lined banks of the Hu Cheng Canal near the Qian Long Imperial Dock, Ye Chun serves up some of the best steamed Chinese dishes as well.

Head south on Guoqing Road from Wenchang Zhonglu Another great place to wander is around the old part of town off Ganquan and Guoqing roads commonly known as 'Old Yangzhou'. There’s no telling what interesting things you’ll stumble across down these back streets. Find the canal running north and south for a beautiful scene that rivals the famous canals of Suzhou.

Free Following the quiet canal a few kilometers south from Slender West Lake leads to Lotus Lake (He Hua Chi). There is a pleasant tea house on an island in the lake, and some trails and paths meander throughout the park as well.

Inside of Tian Ning Temple Tian Ning Market is one of the best places in Yangzhou to score a rare, unusual gift. Chinese art and antique stores line the courtyard’s outer edge and are open seven days a week. On the weekends the market is often very crowded and busy, as the courtyard generally fills up with vendors selling anything from old coins and jade bracelets to ear pickers and carved wooden dragons.

80 yuan (includes Potted Plant Garden) Slender West Lake is the premier attraction in Yangzhou. The park, lined with willow trees, picturesque pagodas, and loads of history has enough to keep a visitor busy for the entire day. During spring the park is an expansive wonderland of flowers and budding trees. There are few enclosed city parks in China as impressive as this, making Slender West Lake a must visit.
