Shenyang is serviced by two main train stations. The official names are “Shenyang Staion” (沈阳站,shěn yáng zhàn), and “North Station” (北站, běi zhàn), but Shenyang Station is commonly referred to as the “South Station (南站 nán zhàn).” Visitors to Shenyang should be aware of this, because there can be some confusion with taxi drivers about which station you may need to get to. If your train ticket says just 沈阳 (shěn yáng), then you are leaving from Shenyang Station (South Station). If you’re leaving from the north station, the ticket will say 沈阳北 (shěn yáng běi). Many trains to and from Shenyang pass through both stations, but they don’t necessarily stop at both, so it’s best to get the right one.  For most major destinations you can buy tickets at either station.  General info about China’s rail system

North Station 北站 (běi zhàn)

How to get there:  The station is on běi zhàn lù (北站路) on the border of Shenhe (沈河) and Huanggu (皇姑) districts, just north of Huigong Square (惠工广场,huì gōng guǎng chǎng). All taxi drivers know how to get to the station without any problems. Alternatively, take any of the following bus routes: 264, 334, 333, 229, 105, 602, 269, 267, 244, 217, 209, 503, 325, 142, 203, 224, 216, 230, 236, 502.

South Station (Shenyang Station) 沈阳站 (shěn yáng zhàn)

How to get there:  Four roads converge at the main entrance to the station, on the station’s east side. They are: shèng lì jiē (胜利街), zhōng shān lù  (中山路), zhōng huā lù (中华路), and mín zhǔ lù (民主路). The rail line that runs north-south through Shenyang forms the border of Heping District (和平区) and Tiexi District (铁西区).

The station is located just a couple blocks west of Taiyuan (太原) shopping street. Also, many buses headed for various locations throughout Liaoning Province depart the from the station’s surrounding streets, so the streets here are often obscenely crowded. If your train is leaving during the day, consider arriving early as it often takes a taxi or bus 20 minutes to travel 200 meters in the area due to traffic jams. The following bus  all stop at Shenyang Station: 203, 123, 207, 602, 4240, 103, 279, 240, 501, 237, 216, 206, 225, 223, 523, 铁西新区一线 (tiě xī xīn qū yī xiàn).
