The Consulate’s largest function is probably processing visa and immigration applications for Chinese planning to go to the U.S., but it is also a useful resource for U.S. citizens living or traveling in China.

 

Services provided at the consulate include (but are not limited to):

Passport application and renewal

Voting and voting registration

Birth registration

Notarization

Tax information

Travel warnings

Visa applications to the United States

 

The consulate recommends that U.S. citizens living in Shenyang register with them (see contact info below). Those who register will receive regular U.S. citizen newsletters by email. 

 

Note that the ‘American Citizen Services Section’ is only open at these times:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 1:30-4:30 pm

Your passport is required for entry. 

 

 

Location: The consulate is centrally located and easy to find. It’s on San Jing Jie (三经街), about 1-2 km north of the inner ring road (文化路 wen hua lu). All taxi drivers know it as “měi guó lǐng shì guǎn   美国领事馆.” Look for white buildings with barred windows surrounded by a tall metal fence… and of course the Stars and Stripes flying in the yard.
