Despite all the recent additions to the Macau spa scene, the massive 15,000 square foot mini-resort at the Mandarin Oriental is still lead in a league of its own. Set amid leafy gardens and alongside a stunning landscaped pool, the spa design is based on 15th-century Mediterranean architecture – harking back to Macau’s Portuguese heritage. The interior is fresh and simple, with light wood flooring and a warm, exotic simplicity. Treatment therapists from across Asia offer 30 different treatments with influences from Chinese, European, Japanese, and Thai traditions. Their signature treatment is the Sangria Spa Ritual; which involves a fresh grape body scrub, a soak in a sangria-filled outdoor Jacuzzi, and of course a glass of sangria itself to finish.
