Toilets in China are often not clean and there is usually not any toilet paper. When in China, you should make it a habit to bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer with you wherever you go.

The standard Chinese toilet is a ceramic hole in the ground that you squat over. If you are able-bodied then this is not a problem in itself. However, if you are having some problems or just like to read the comics on the toilet then these will not be comfortable. At least you don’t have to touch anything though since you can hit the handle with your foot instead of having to use your hand.

Washrooms are not hard to find. They are in department stores, hotels, restaurants and in public areas. In the cities, clean, western style washrooms can be found in fast food restaurants such as McDonalds and KFC.
