Offline
Inside China there are English magazines and newspapers in many of the larger cities and in a few of the smaller cities. There is also CCTV9 which is the main English TV Channel (see CCTV’s website). If you are looking for offline information before coming to China or looking for a practical resource to carry around there are several guidebooks that cover China.
Local maps cost about 3 to 7 yuan and can be purchased on the street or at transportation hubs. If English maps are not to be found along with the Chinese maps, they can sometimes be found at bookstores.
