Bryan was my guide in Xi'an in March 2013. As promised, he arranged for me to be collected from the airport in a comfortable car on the evening of my arrival. The following morning he picked me up punctually at my hotel and took me up onto the city walls. From there we went to see the remains of a Neolithic village at the Banpo Museum, and then drove out to see the terracotta warriors. Bryan spoke good English, had a pleasant sense of humour, and was both knowledgeable and interesting as a guide. He certainly had the ability to communicate his enthusiasm for his subject. He let me take things at my own pace and was good at answering my questions. I didn't want to stop for lunch, so we only had a brief coffee break, but he showed no signs of fatigue or impatience. He didn't try to lure me into expensive shops in the hope of earning a commission; and when I did want to buy some souvenirs, he was anxious to make sure that I wasn't fleeced. At then end of our tour he took me back to the airport, and remained with me until I went through security. Altogether, Bryan helped to make my visit to Xi'an memorable and enjoyable. I recommend him highly.
Just got back from a 17 day trip through China. Two of those days were guided by Bryan and they were FANTASTIC. We had just come from Beijing where we hired a guide as well and Bryan's tour was waaaaay better. He didn't bring us to any nasty little tourist traps with pushy salespeople like we experienced in other places. Everything we did was genuine! He took us to a local lunch spot with homeade noodles, while other tours hit up the huge tourist restaurants nearby. It was a huge relief that we were able to experience the actual culture of the city and not just the show put on for tourists. He is well spoken and very friendly. I would recommend him to anyone traveling to Xi'an whether they are English speaking or not. Having Bryan there to help us out and show us around for a couple days left us with two days to explore the city on our own. Bryan gave us some spectacular advice on where to go and what to eat (The famous soup dumplings in the muslim district were great, ask him about them!) To top it all off, my girlfriend and I were having issues with the airport, had an item in lost and found which we thought we would never get back due to language barriers. Bryan helped out on the phone days after we had finished our tour to help us get our lost item back! Seriously, if you want to have a great time with a fun guide I'd recommend hiring Bryan.
Excellent experience. We visited Xi'an in November, coming in on a Saturday night for a quick 2 day tour. Bryan met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. He made sure we got checked in, and there was a glitch in the room reservation which he helped sort out. Both days he arrived on time and ready to go. Bryan really added to the tour with his extensive knowledge of Chinese history. Bryan speaks excellent English, and his fluent explanations made the places we visited come alive. He took us to some very good restaurants for lunch, and gave us some very good suggestions for restaurants for dinner, pointing out local specialties for us to try. On the day we left, Bryan was there to take us to the airport and made sure we got checked in there as well. All in all, this was a very good trip for us. Bryan made it easy and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to visit Xi'an.

Hay: It is possible to finish one day tour in Xi’an. But you need manage your time well due to the reasons of traffics in chaos in downtown, inefficient toll gate from the Terri-cotta warriors’ museum to airport during the rush hours.
I have been there many times. I think it is better to read some books first before you go to museum, especially some information about the Han dynasty which is second great dynasty after Qin dynasty. The Han culture, Han majority people and Han character (Chinese character) all came from the great era.
