Hours: 24 Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area,or BDA, is situated at Yizhuang. With an area of 15.8 square kilometers, it started construction in 1992 and was approved by the State Council as the state-level economic-technological development area in August 1994. In August 2002, with the approval of State Council, BDA expanded its area with 24 square kilometers. In April 2003, the Beijing Municipal Goverment agreed to implement this expansion plan. In 2005, the State Council decided in its official reply to the Overall Urban Planning of Beijing 2004-2020 that Yizhuang will be one of the three prioritized new cities in Beijing , positioned as the center for high-tech industry development. By the end of March 2005, 1,691 enterprises have made their home in BDA, accumulating a total investment of US$9.319 billion. With an average investment value of US$16.1 million, foreign invested-enterprises, of FIEs, make up more than 70% of BDA's total investment.
