Rudi Lynes was born and raised in Ireland. He studied history and English literature at University College Cork and graduated in 1998. The following year he came to China for work and has not looked back since. Rudi has studied Chinese language at Beijing Normal University and has worked as an English teacher, consultant, writer, translator and magazine editor.

 

During his college years in Ireland, Rudi’s curiosity and passion for travel took him to countries as far apart and diverse as Cuba, Egypt, and Mongolia. In China, he has lived in Wuhan, rural-Fujian, Harbin, Beijing and Shenzhen, earning him a rich and diverse Chinese experience. Moreover, from Xinjiang to Yunnan, Tibet to Shanghai, he has traveled widely in China and has visited almost every province in the country.

 

Rudi speaks and reads Chinese fluently and has a deep interest in Chinese history and culture. He currently lives in Shenzhen, loves to eat out, is no stranger to bars and is thrilled pass on his intimate knowledge of the city to Synotrip users.
